We've covered a lot of the pieces of equipment currently on site, and we've certainly seen the scrapers in action throughout many of our timelapse videos. From the sky, these behemoth belly scrapers can still look like ants dancing around in the dirt, but these hardworking tools of the trade are certainly one of the most unique heavy equipment vehicles out there.
In today's episode, Mike is joined by scraper operator, Tyler to learn more about the bodacious dual-engine belly scraper and its unique construction that allows the machines to operate in tandem. Maybe they are dancing around the site after all! Scrapers are made up of four key functional parts: Scraper - cuts into the earth and then pushes material into the bowl Bowl - stores the collected material from the scraper Apron - closes the bowl when it's full to allow for transport of material from a cut area to a fill area or to stockpile Ejector - dumps and pushes the loaded material out Watching the scrapers work has provided such an interesting look at what it takes to prep a site like ours for the next phase of the construction process.
