Driving past the Industrial Areas of St. Thomas, it's sometimes difficult to know what happens behind the scenes and how the manufacturers based here impact the wider supply chain and our local economy. At St. Thomas Economic Development, we often have the privilege of visiting these workplaces to learn more about our local industries. In today's episode, Mike is bringing us all along to learn more about Element5, the scope of work they conduct, and the growth of the mass timber industry as Ontario expands to permit 18-storey structures built from the material. Locally, you can check out some of Element5's work at the Port Stanley Fire Hall and The St. Thomas Daycare across from the Westlake Evans Civic Square. Is there a local business that you want to have a better idea of what they do? Let us know, and maybe we can take you along with us! Is there a worse feeling than sitting down in a meeting and not understanding a thing because everyone is speaking in acronyms Sure, there is, but it still makes things awkward. So, instead of making things awkward, we are bringing you into the inner circle of knowledge, sharing some of the acronyms being used around the site, explaining what they mean, and updating you on the site aspects they describe. Mike is in the studio this week with the latest From the Beehive. Please note that at 2:56, the correct number is 88 psi. Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for another update, coming soon. Mike is in Downtown St. Thomas once again, chatting with City Councillor Tara McCaulley about the team of Special Constables and how they assist our community. The innovative approach St. Thomas has implemented is already making a difference in our community and sets an example that other forces are looking towards as a service model to improve policing in other communities. For more information about the Special Constable Team or this news story We can't let a little wind stop us! But it did mean a transatlantic video call to get all the details about the drilling process on site from PowerCo Construction Engineer and Geotechnical expert Finn Weinkötz. Join us to learn more about the on-site tests conducted through the drilling process and why they are an important marker of progress for the future PowerCo Gigafactory in St. Thomas, Ontario. |
