But it did mean a transatlantic video call to get all the details about the drilling process on site from PowerCo Construction Engineer and Geotechnical expert Finn Weinkötz. Join us to learn more about the on-site tests conducted through the drilling process and why they are an important marker of progress for the future PowerCo Gigafactory in St. Thomas, Ontario. The warmer weather will bring loads of activity to the site and for construction around the community, with work on the Highbury expansion commencing April 22. Coordinating efforts between St. Thomas, London and Middlesex County Connect Transit, the two-year pilot project launching April 8th will offer daily service departing St. Thomas at 7:10, stopping in the Industrial Area and Valleyview Home.
The route will continue to travel up Wellington Road to White Oaks Mall in London, offering an opportunity to connect riders to London Transit destinations or stay on the bus heading towards the Wilton Grove Industrial Area with a final destination at the FlightExec Centre in Dorchester. The route will complete four round trips per day, Monday-Saturday. A one-way trip will cost $5, payable by cash, debit or credit, with free fare for children under six. The St. Thomas route, along with the two existing Middlesex County Connect routes, will be funded through the provincial Community Transportation Grant Program until March 31, 2025. Check out what the upcoming changes to Highbury Ave within the City Limits will look like! Take in the preview of the included new roundabouts that will support the movement of traffic; we know folks have some strong feelings about roundabouts, but there are some good reasons they are included here and in the Megasite Plan: Check them out here. This rendered preview also highlights the art pieces that are included in the project: Metal Mind Forge's dandelion titled 'Thriving' which “captures the essence of resilience, growth, and optimism expressed through the lifecycle of a dandelion sprouting from a pile of old railway spikes,” and Shift Landscape Architecture's art piece entitled Fading Memories “that recalls the traditional barn as an object from the area that is seemingly disappearing from the landscape and from the memories of those who spent time around these structures.” Stay tuned through the end of the drive to catch some interesting information about one of the conservation projects in the works for the site as well!
