🎥 Public Art Update from the St. Thomas Megasite!
We've got a guest host today! St. Thomas City Councillor Steve Wookey steps in for Mike from St. Thomas Economic Development with a special edition of From The Beehive—and this one’s all about art, creativity, and community! In this episode, we’re at a new roundabout at Highbury and South Edgeware, where a brand-new sculpture is putting down roots. Meet Kyle Thornley, the talented Artist-Blacksmith of Metal Mind Forge from Revelstoke, BC, whose dandelion-inspired public art piece, "Thriving Roots", was selected by the Public Art Committee. 🌼✨ Crafted from forged stainless steel and welding wire, Kyle’s stunning sculpture symbolizes transformation, resilience, and the power of community. It captures the essence of St. Thomas as a place where hopes and dreams take flight. You’ll also hear a few behind-the-scenes insights into the selection process from the Public Art Committee and learn just how much work goes into creating a piece that becomes part of a city’s soul. 💬 Got questions about the public art program? Reach out to Councillor Wookey.
