How Many Times Can You Go Around a Roundabout?
Mike from St. Thomas Economic Development is back with another little update—and this one’s spinning out of control (literally)! What starts as a fun challenge to see how many times you can loop a roundabout quickly turns into a lesson in traffic safety—complete with a surprise visit from the St. Thomas Police Service 👮♂️. From being pulled over mid-spin to getting expert advice straight from the Chief of Police, this episode covers everything you actually need to know about navigating roundabouts safely in St. Thomas: ✔️ Choosing the right lane ✔️ When to yield ✔️ Signaling correctly ✔️ What to do when emergency vehicles appear ✔️ Why roundabouts are becoming more common If you’ve ever been confused (or mildly terrified) by roundabouts, this one’s for you. 🎥 Watch to the end for a great breakdown of how roundabouts improve traffic flow, reduce collisions, and even help the environment. And to set the record straight - In Ontario, there's no specific law limiting the number of times you can circle a roundabout. However, driving around more than twice could be considered careless driving. If a police officer observes excessive circling, they may pull you over and investigate, potentially under suspicion of impaired driving. Thank you to the St. Thomas Police Services for helping us create this informative Roundabout Roundup to promote safe roundabout driving in the community!
