Join Mike from St. Thomas Economic Development for another on-site update—this time from a growing stormwater management (SWM) pond at the future Volkswagen PowerCo industrial site, Yarmouth Yards. But first, he bumps into Sarah Lynch, the ever-busy Downtown Development and Engagement Officer supporting the St. Thomas Downtown Development Board, to chat about the 11th Annual Nostalgia Nights Classic Car Show happening July 12th on Talbot Street. Expect thousands of classic cars, tribute acts, chill and cheer stations, and vibrant downtown energy you don’t want to miss!
Then, it’s over to the northwest corner of the megasite, where Mike meets Peter and Ryan from Arcadis to talk all things civil engineering. They break down the importance of stormwater management, massive culverts (yes, big enough to drive through), and what it takes to design a stormwater system for one of Ontario’s largest industrial sites. Get a glimpse of UBERPOND - this 35-acre SWM pond is on par with Lake Margaret in terms of size and will, over time, take on a similar naturalized state, complete with 13 km of trails and pathways through Yarmouth Yards. Lake Margaret was an operational gravel pit until around 2000 and is now a popular destination in the city. From big pipes to even bigger puns, this episode delivers both insight and humour. 🤪 Whether you're into classic cars, infrastructure innovation, or future-forward development in St. Thomas, there’s something here for everyone. Cruise into Downtown St. Thomas for Nostalgia Nights 📅 Saturday, July 12, 2025 🕓 4 PM – 9 PM 📍 Talbot Street, Downtown St. Thomas
