Step inside the Elgin County Heritage Centre for a larger-than-life celebration — Jumbomania! 🐘
Join Mike from St. Thomas Economic Development as he meets curator Madeline Howard and guest curator Dariusz Korbiel for an exclusive look at this special exhibition, honouring the legendary African elephant, Jumbo. Instead of focusing on his tragic end, Jumbomania dives into his fascinating life, incredible fame, and the global obsession that followed. From a life-size Jumbo photo and a rare slice of his tusk (only five exist!) to quirky memorabilia, this exhibition is packed with artifacts you have to see to believe. You’ll also hear the wild tale of 125 stolen Jumbo street signs and see some of the rare surviving originals. 📍 Located on Sunset Road between St. Thomas and Port Stanley, the exhibit is perfect to visit before or after the beach. 💬 Comment below with your ideas for naming our St. Thomas EDC mascot. He's a big fan of Jumbo, but wants his own identity — we will take your suggestions to our Board! 📅 Don’t miss this chance to experience Jumbomania for yourself!
